10 days past Andy's b-day... second day on the new job. I'm HAPPY 'bout this one, volkz'... it's gonna' RAWK where I'm workin'... & it should be good for (at least) a coupla' years - almost enuff to carry me to Social Security retirement (if there's any LEFT after Dubya & krew get through).
I'll now have (some) time to get back into the MUSIC of life... gradual re-start, mild approach, keep th' blood pressure down a bit. This "age" thang is a total creepy/crawly thing, & I'm not into it at ALL. Major trauma (somehow) to my right eye while up in Alaska, had to stay in the hospital till th' witching hour last nite, just to be issued a little packet of cream that will aid in healing th' blood vessel that was busted. NO fun!
& now, how are YOU folks doin' out there? Harder & harder to fathom th' reasons for what goes on 'round th' world ev'ry day... little makes sense at this juncture, other than th' reality that this phrogger IS turnin' into a HOLY WAR 9more like UNholy, methinks). & those who are 'annointed" to th' orifice of PREZ will NEVER be able to look at th' drum from "the other side". Meaning it will lead to 20 or 30 years of strife & corn-flict that is a TOTAL WASTE of energy & lives. Can't we do better with our nation?
Well, I appear to be rambling again (that comes with age as well). Stay in touch, please... don't hear from (all that) many of you in th' "home recordijng revolution" anymore... wotz' goin' ON out there?
Well, I received some EXCELLENT NEWS yesterday... the contract I've been waiting for, which will allow me to work out of Fort Lewis (therefore not having to deploy to Iraq) has BEEN APPROVED. I've still got the financial haggling to do on Monday & Tuesday, but the job is in place! Hoo-RAH! This means that my 'zine, IMPROVIJAZZATION NATION, will be opening it's doors again. Please pass the following notice to as many artists as possible:
CALL for SUBMISSIONS!!!
ALL artists! I am very, VERY happy to announce that IMPROVIJAZZATION NATION is ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS again. I have been granted a (possibly long-term) stay of execution for my trip to Iraq. Look at the guidelines for submission below, please:
MUSIC: All formats accepted. Snail mail to: Zzaj Productions, c/o Dick Metcalf, 5308 65th Avenue, Lacey, WA 98513 The only criteria for music you submit is that it MUST HAVE high performance energy... if you submit lacklustre material, it will be reviewed accordingly
POETRY: Poems are accepted for publication ONLY via e-mail. Poems submitted in any other fashion will NOT be published. Poetry that includes some reference to music is granted first priority for publication.
BOOKS: We will review some books; books about music are PREFERRED. We will NOT return any books submitted for review. Snail them to the address listed above for MUSIC.
